After a Rain Delay, a Beautiful Day for 3rd Annual Chipping In for Veterans Tournament

Originally scheduled to take place in early June, the 3rd annual Chipping In for Veterans tournament was postponed due to heavy rain. On the rescheduled date of July 9, 2018, 120 golfers arrived at the Dedham Country and Polo Club to enjoy a round of golf in the sunshine.

Golfers began the day with a putting contest and time on the driving range, and the round was opened with words of welcome from NECHV President and CEO Andy McCawley, as well as remarks from Chipping In for Veterans Committee Co-Chairs Dan Holland, Beirne Lovely, and Kevin O’Brien.

The round moved swiftly in the warm weather. After, the golfers convened in the Clubhouse terrace for a silent auction and cocktail hour. James Fagan acted as Master of Ceremonies, introducing speakers and talking about the importance of supporting the programs and services offered to Veterans by the NECHV. The evening’s guest speaker was Lt. Col. Jonathan Feltner, USMC (Retired). He spoke about his time in Vietnam and the need for places like the NECHV for Veterans reintegrating into civilian life following their service.

With support from the day’s sponsors and golfers, the NECHV raised over $120,000 to benefit the programs and services for Veterans at the Center. We are deeply grateful to all who participated, and we look forward to seeing you out on the course again next year!
