In the third installment of Meet Your Whitridge IT Recruiter, we are thrilled to introduce you to Luis Gallo, a Staffing Specialist here at Whitridge Associates. Luis brings professionalism and a sense of humor to our team and we are so happy he is part of the Whitridge family. 

Q: What is your background both educationally and professionally? And how did that lead you to IT recruiting? 

Luis: I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. While obtaining my degree I developed an interest in personal training and found a job as a Personal Trainer. During school and for a year after that, I helped people achieve their fitness goals. Toward the end of personal training career one of my friends, Nick Butcher, talked to me about IT staffing. I was able to set up a conversation with Whitridge’s Recruiting Manager and the rest is history.

Q: What is the best thing about IT recruiting and what do you think are the biggest challenges? 

Luis: The best thing about IT recruiting is the great feeling you get when you are able to help people further their careers. Being an IT Recruiter can be stressful, but knowing you are helping people every day is a great feeling. The toughest part would be that there is a lot of things that are out of your control, but once you learn to control what you can, and not worry about what you can’t, it becomes a lot simpler. 

Q: When you’re not at work what is your favorite thing to do? 

Luis: I recently adopted a 3-month old black lab, Bailey, in March through Last Hope K9 - who has taken over my life in the best way possible. My girlfriend and I enjoy taking her on hikes and taking her to the dog park.  Other than the four-legged edition to our family, I enjoy hanging out with close friends, and playing golf.

Q: Tell us one interesting (or odd – no judgement here) fact about yourself? 

Luis: I can never keep my eyes open in pictures outdoors, if you need proof -- see the picture above. 

Q: What do you love about Whitridge?

Luis: The thing I love about working at Whitridge would have to be my colleagues. We do not have a “normal” work environment here, because it feels more like a family.  We have all grown close, and are always trying to push each other to become better not only at work, but outside as well.
