Boston IT Recruiters See Encouraging Trends in Hiring

At Whitridge, our IT Recruiters in Boston are acutely aware of trends in employment. The IT staffing business is dependent on our client’s need to grow and expand their teams, adding talented IT consultants to the workforce. From Business Analysts and Project Managers to Java Developers and Dev Ops Engineers – it is Whitridge’s goal to find interesting and challenging jobs for our consultants while simultaneously finding the right person for the job for our clients – every time.

When the Coronavirus pandemic hit, there was great uncertainty in the job market. While some companies slowed their hiring practices, IT hiring seemed to be (moderately) insulated from the dramatic plunge in jobs that others experienced. Over the past several months, both our IT Recruiters and our Account Managers have seen an encouraging uptick in quality job requisitions coming from our clients across Financial Services, Technology, and beyond.

General unemployment numbers have also been showing positive trends as seen in the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Economic News Release from 9/4/20:

“In August, the unemployment rate declined by 1.8 percentage points to 8.4 percent, and the number
of unemployed persons fell by 2.8 million to 13.6 million. Both measures have declined for 4
consecutive months but are higher than in February, by 4.9 percentage points and 7.8 million,
respectively.”

That same report showed positive trends in several sectors that will affect the IT staffing industry:

“In August, employment in professional and business services increased by 197,000. More than half
of the gain occurred in temporary help services (+107,000). Architectural and engineering
services (+14,000), business support services (+13,000), and computer systems design and related
services (+13,000) also added jobs over the month.”

Whitridge’s IT Recruiters in Boston have confidence that the IT job market will continue to grow in the coming years and may be largely unaffected by the downturn that other sectors have seen, as outlined in the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook

“Employment in computer and information technology occupations is projected to grow 11 percent from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. These occupations are projected to add about 531,200 new jobs. Demand for these workers will stem from greater emphasis on cloud computing, the collection and storage of big data, and information security.”

Regardless of trends and projected outlooks, the IT Recruiters at Whitridge are always working tirelessly to find the best jobs for the consultants they represent and we feel confident we can help anyone looking in the information technology field find the next step in their career.
